Course Outline
Week 1 – Discover Your Strengths, Explore Your Future
Participants begin the program by exploring their personal strengths, interests, and work preferences. Through interactive activities like “Would You Rather” employment scenarios, students learn about different types of jobs and workplace environments.
Week 2 – Ready for Work: Communication, Professionalism & Time Skills
Participants practice the everyday skills needed to succeed at work, including, but not limited to professional behavior, communication, organization, task completion, problem solving, and persistence. week focuses on how to act and communicate in the workplace. Participants practice greeting others, asking for help, following instructions, and understanding workplace expectations.
Week 3 – Interview and Resume Building Skills
Participants learn how to prepare for a job interview and practice answering common interview questions. Through role play and guided practice, students work on making introductions, describing their strengths, and demonstrating confidence during interviews. They also create a simple, personalized resume. Participants identify their strengths, experiences, skills, and interests that can be included on a resume. The class also discusses how resumes help employers learn about job candidates.
Week 4 – Mock Workday Simulation
In the final week, participants experience a simulated workday. After preparing with a brief mock interview, students rotate through hands-on job stations.
This real-world practice allows participants to apply the skills they learned throughout the program while building confidence, independence, and work stamina.
